The Lego Story

Growth Mindset
We have been talking a lot about not giving up when something seems difficult to do or to understand. Students are encouraged to recognize that making mistakes is a necessary step in learning.  I have posted books and videos in the Growth Mindset green tab at the top of this blog if you wish to visit it.  Last week, as promised, I shared with them 'The Lego Story' (posted above) which seemed to resonate with them in a meaningful way.

Learning Commons Visit

This week we will be heading to the learning commons to borrow a book. We will be going every Thursday. Your child can borrow the book for 1 week. Please send the book back on the Wednesday before our next visit.

Wednesday, October 26th is Picture Retake Day,  Please indicate in your child's agenda if you wish them to have their picture retaken.

Last week, we were able to take advantage of one of the remaining beautiful days of Fall to observe seasonal changes.  Students brought their clipboards with them and were sketching and writing about some of the signs that they observed.

To date, we have introduced five weeks of words (25 words).  Students are doing a great job at identifying them in various contexts (morning messages, shared readings, independent reading texts, etc.).  They are able to spell many of them without using our Word Wall Word board.  Just as exciting, the students are able to use many of the WWW to assist them in their reading!  I encourage  your child to continue reviewing these high frequency words at home.  Of course, we will continue our practise of them in various activities during our center time.  On Monday, we will resume with Week 6 Word Wall Words.
